Been hung up on this one this week. I've dug the previous LPs and 12"s, but this one has hit the hardest in the record store so far. Or maybe it's just newer and shinier? They've all definitely been good, but I feel this one takes it to the next level. All The Quiet, Part I, a double LP and first in a two part series, floats keyboardist / composer ARMON-JONES' usual dubby jazz but it leans more into hip hop than I recall from the previous releases. The spaciness is bolstered with heavier beats and thicker bass, while the synthesizers and manipulated sounds mesmerize and shimmer. Great guest vocal appearances too! Into it. Take the trip.
Armon-Jones is also a member of the great UK jazz fusion group EZRA COLLECTIVE.
