Printout excerpt:

"As mentioned above, we're flying ourselves into the heart of a brand new In The Red Records release. Over the years, the garage label has brought us releases by Ty Segall, Oblivians, Thee Oh Sees, The King Khan & BBQ Show, Strange Boys, Black Lips, Fuzz, Deadly Snakes, A Feast Of Snakes and countless others. Needless to say, they're an essential label for fiending fans of rock'n'roll.

The label's newest release is the sophomore record of Dan Kroha's latest three piece garage project, Danny & The Darleans. Kroha is a Detroit musician best known as a founding member of The Gories (Crypt Records, In The Red, etc) and The Demolition Doll Rods (Matador Records, In The Red Records). By nature, this project is a closer DNA match to the stripped-down Gories than the frilled glam-rock of his Doll Rods, but it still has more in common with 60s garage punk than anything modern. The Sonics, The Monks, The Nightcrawlers, the Back From The Grave compilations and sweated-up R&B rock are the keys to understanding where Kroha's brain burns.

Colleen Burke (We Regazzi) plays bass and Richie Wohlfeil (Detroit Cobras, Saturday Looks Good To Me) caps it off as the drummer. They're a straight-forward power trio who aim for the gut. Things are kept basic with fast'n'dirty guitar leads, deep rolling bass and busy small-kit drumming. There ain't no studio tricks here and I'm pretty sure the record was cut in mono. Also in true 60s garawge fashion, it sounds like there are at least three covers on the record. Without checking out the liner notes, see if you can pick them out. One is pretty instantly recognizable from another mega-band using the cover as a live staple for years, but the others blend in so well they may as well all be originals. It's that authentic and perfect sounding.

This is dance music. And it does howl." -chaz
